CID, Principal, Creative Director
Kara Rice, Principal at Citron Design Group, discovered the challenge and reward of adaptive reuse while working at a Design-Build General Construction company. She obtained an interior architecture degree at Cal State Long Beach, followed by several years working alongside renowned Long Beach developer and builder Jan van Dijs, allowing her to gain valued hands-on experience in construction and historic building modification. Kara and Jan later founded Citron Design Group to focus on interior design and rehabilitation. It is Kara's background in construction, project management and a her refined visual instinct that makes Citron Design Group uniquely capable among design studios. Kara resides in Historic Rose Park with her husband and son, where they can often be found spending time planning and perfecting their charming craftsman-era home and garden.
